As a tax payers we'd like our money (that we worked hard for) to go towards hospitals, schools, solving crime, etc and not to pay for a complete stranger to bring up a child.

Ring jobcentre when you are 28 weeks pregnant and they will send you the forms for the maternity grant....your midwife will know about this also.
